Wait, isn’t community radio funded by its listeners?

Yes, Australian community radio is significantly funded by its listeners, along with other sources like local businesses and government funding.

While listener subscriptions, donations, and subscriber drives are crucial, community radio stations also rely on sponsorship from local businesses and organisations, and some receive government grants, particularly through the Community Broadcasting Foundation (CBF).

What’s it all about?

Behind the scenes, the Radio & You survey is part of a landmark research project, which will show the government how their investment in community radio, helps our nation.

Industries involved include Indigenous/First Nations radio, Ethnic and Multicultural radio, Disability radio, and Faith-based radio.

The research is being conducted all across Australia by trusted social research companies.
