“It’s a recognition of the fact that our libraries [are] not just about books, but there’s an incredible array of services that our libraries provide.
“The real popular ones that we’ve had over the last little while have been paper, daisy, capsicum, passion fruit, pumpkin, tomatoes, coriander, basil.”
How it works
Getting started with your local Seed Library is pretty simple!
- Grab up to four packets of seeds from your local or mobile library each month (hint: you’ll find the Seed Library in the gardening section).
- Grow your seeds at home using the information on the packets as a guide.
- Donate some seeds from your matured plants back to the Seed Library to keep the cycle going.
- Fill out the provided envelope and pop into a donations box at your local library.
The Seed Library is free and open to anyone with a library membership.
