Listen: Debbie from Lily House, chats with Mornings with Fee about the urgent need for a new home.
But it’s more than just a house, it’s a home where the residents can take a breath in safety while they get back on their feet.
Lily House is based on Christian values and uses a strength-based approach, which aims to bring wholeness to women from all walks of life. The in-house program is holistic, person-centered, and focuses on mental, emotional, spiritual, social, and physical health. They offer women the chance to improve their lives and the lives of their children.
The manager Debbie explains, “Lily House is like a family. We lookout for the girls and let them know they are loved, and they look after each other. These women are the sweetest you’ll meet and nobody should have to go through what they’ve been through”
Following a very generous donation from a local Sunshine Coast couple, Lily House has finally been able to buy and renovate a new facility to accommodate these desperate victims trying to escape the cycle of violence and provide a better future for their children.
Sadly that property won’t be ready yet for another 6 months and the lease on their current lodgings is now coming to a close, as the owner is selling in this very favourable housing market.
This means that Lily House desperately needs to find a four-bedroom (or larger) home to rent for the next half a year to continue to provide these essential services to women in need and their children.
Ideally, they hope to find a new residence that has good public transport access to the Maroochydore area, either somewhere along the train line or with a reliable bus service to the city and the hospital.
