But her latest music release, a brand-new EP titled In Between, shares the highs and lows of her greatest adventure yet – becoming a mother to her son, Harry.
“I found it really tricky when I became pregnant,” Dami said. “I had so much fear about how people would treat me differently once I became a mum. I knew I wanted a baby, but I still had that feeling.”
Dami wrote the entire album while she was pregnant, which detailed the turmoil that she felt during that time, allowing her to process her emotions.
“The album starts off being anxious and angry at the world,” Dami admitted. “But there’s a song called Collide, which I finished off after my baby was born. And it was about this moment of acceptance that this next chapter of my life could be really beautiful.”
Getting the Hang of Motherhood
As Harry becomes older, Dami admitted it is becoming easier to juggle her career with motherhood. She starts her East Coast tour tonight in Brisbane, before playing at the Sydney Opera House next Thursday 13 July, which is set to be a special one for her fans – the “Dami Army”.
“This is the first tour since COVID and I’m so excited to see everyone again,” Dami said. “This year marks 10 years of the Dami Army so it will be like an anniversary celebration.”
