Hope at Christmas Reading plan – Day 2

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God.” – John 1:1-2 KJV

“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spoke, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me. And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.” – John 1:14-16 KJV

The greatest miracle ever to occur was the birth of the infinite and eternal and all-knowing and all-powerful Son of God as a baby in a finite, fallen universe! ‘The Word was God… and the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us.’

Someone once said, “Imagine planting a garden and then becoming a plant”. It’s shocking to even contemplate making a choice like that; and yet, the distance between us and a plant is far smaller than the distance between us and God.

What would make Him make a choice like that, to ‘plant’ Himself in this soiled world? Only one thing. God is saying to you today, ‘That is how much I love you!’

Let that thought sink into your mind for a few moments. Doesn’t it make you want to love Him back with all your heart?
