Listen: Whatever you choose to do, take the time to create meaningful traditions to enjoy together as a family or couple!

Let’s continue discussing some fun ways to create meaningful Christmas traditions!

Just in case you missed it, take a look at part one of this series here.

As relationship expert and neuropsychotherapist Joanne Wilson says, meaningful Christmas traditions are a great way to connect as a couple or as a family throughout the festive season.

Here are five ideas to get you started!

1. Volunteer together

Volunteering is a great way to learn new skills and connect with people – particularly if you’re feeling alone or isolated. And volunteering together as a family or a couple is a great way to make sure you’re building a culture of helping others. Head over to the Nambour Daily Bread Soup Kitchen or the Volunteering QLD site for ideas and opportunities!

2. Watch Christmas movies

Christmas movies are a great way to have a good laugh and relax together. Joanne’s family has a tradition of watching Elf on December 1 – what a fun way to kickstart the festive season!

3. Movie marathon

Why not invite some friends over and host a Christmas movie marathon with popcorn and Christmas treats!

4. Christmas lights tour

Map out the best streets in your area and book a time in your family calendar. Whether you walk or drive, this is such a great way to see some beautiful lights and meet the locals.

5. Yearly wrapper

Take a moment to sit together, have a little drink and chat about the highlights and lowlights of the year. Whether you decide to share it with others or keep it between yourselves, this is a great way to have closure on the year and share a special moment together.

Whatever you choose to do, it’s worthwhile creating meaningful traditions together as a couple or a family!
