Listen: Check out the conversations we had with some of the Students from Suncoast!
Salt 106.5 had the incredible opportunity to connect with the students from Suncoast Christian College during their Cyber Safety Week, and what a day it was!
Key Points:
- Technology is everywhere, and AI is making its mark on everything from school assignments to social media interactions.
- As technology and AI continue to evolve, it’s essential that we continue to teach our kids how to use it wisely and stay safe online.
The atmosphere was buzzing with excitement as we shared some meaningful conversations with the students about the world of technology, artificial intelligence (AI), and cyber safety.
The morning wasn’t just about learning; it was also about having fun—especially with a free Tim Tam in hand! In addition to some fun competitions where participants had the chance to win a family pass to Aussie World there were also some deep discussions about how technology is changing the way we learn, interact, and navigate the digital world.

Technology: The New Frontier for Today’s Students
Technology is growing faster than ever, and for kids today, it’s the norm. For adults, it can be a bit overwhelming trying to keep up with the pace of change. But for students, it’s simply the world they’ve grown up in. Technology is everywhere, and AI is making its mark on everything from school assignments to social media interactions.
We posed spme questions to the students at Suncoast Christian College, aimed to delve into how technology is affecting their lives, especially when it comes to education and online safety.
Here are some of the big questions that students had a chance to answer:
- How do you think AI is changing the way you learn and do schoolwork?
- What are some things you do to stay safe online?
- Have you ever seen misinformation or fake news online? How can you tell if something is real or fake?
- What advice would you give younger kids about using social media safely?
- What do you think schools should teach more about cyber safety?

Insights from Students and Elisha Salt’s Station Manager
The Salt 106.5 team also had the chance to sit down with some of the school captains, Caleb and Lucy, along with students Petro and Keenan, to hear their thoughts on AI, cyber safety, and technology. Some of their answers were truly eye-opening, showcasing just how aware today’s students are about the challenges and opportunities that technology brings.
Salt 106.5 Station Manager Elisha Jurgensen delivered an inspiring talk at the College Chapel, discussing the benefits and challenges that AI bring to radio. Elisha highlighted that we should never be worried about AI taking over our creative work. Our Purpose is given to us by God and it cannot be taken from us.

Looking Ahead: A Balanced Approach to Technology
It’s clear from our conversations that today’s students are living in a tech-driven world, and with that comes the responsibility of navigating it safely. As technology and AI continue to evolve, it’s essential that we, as a community, continue to teach our kids how to use it wisely and stay safe online.
Salt 106.5 is committed to being a resource for families, and we’re excited to keep the conversation going.
Remember – if you’re curious about the future of AI, the best way to stay informed is to keep asking the right questions! There’s no need to panic, as we know that our God is in control and ultimately works all things for His purpose.
