Can you make a difference in a child’s life? Foster Carers are extraordinary people. They come from all walks of life, just like the children they care for. Almost anyone who wants to make a difference in a child’s life can become a foster carer. Everyone can help regardless of gender, experience with children at home, whether you’re employed or retired. You just need to be you and have the passion to make a difference in a child’s life. By being yourself, it encourages the child to be themselves and to feel comfortable in their new home.
Everyone is welcome to attend a free You Be You foster carer information session in Maroochydore on Thursday January 23.
You will have an opportunity to learn from experienced foster care practitioners and ask questions that are specific to your situation. The session covers a range of topics including:
– How and why children come into care
– The different placement types children require
– The role of a foster carer
– The supports available through the government and Anglicare
– The steps to becoming a foster carer
The sessions will be held at Anglicare Sunshine Coast, 43 Plaza Parade Maroochydore.
