This is a free community event to be held at Annie’s Books in Peregian Beach on the 18th January at 6pm.
In time for the Australian Open, Annie from Annie’s Books will be hosting a unique book launch event alongside a panel discussion with some very elite local athletes. Set in the world of professional tennis, local author Taryn Bashford’s debut novel launches this month. It’s the story of a girl who learns to win from a boy who has lost everything. Taryn believes in giving our teens new role models – so she’s combined her book launch with a chance to chat to some elite local teen and twenty-something athletes so our teens can find out what it takes to be a star and realise these athletes are normal girls living in our community – they’re touchable, real-life role models and heroines. Athletes include QLD’s U18 tennis captain, Kristina Lane, our local Commonwealth Games sprint hopeful, Jane Larkin, and two elite triathletes, Annelise Jefferies & Chloe McLennan.
Annie will be serving strawberries & cream with bubbly, and there’ll be a chance to ask these elite athletes any burning questions you may have. Taryn Bashford will also be signing copies of The Harper Effect and answering questions about writing and how to get published.
